I was born in a small village in Maharashtra. My parents were in to farming and financial status of the family was very low. I completed my Medical degree and started working on our small farm along with my Medical Business.
With a view to implement new techniques in farming, In 2006 I decided to go with Flax seed farming. I was fortunate enough to work under the guidance of Dr. Punjabat, Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola; Javas Sanshodhan Kendra, Nagpur; Krushi Vidyapeeth and Dr. Prakash Ghorpi and since I have been working on Flax Seed Production.
In 2012, I was awarded with the Krushibhushan Puraskar for the initiative in 2010-11 along with the Government for the production of Flaxseed PKYNL-260 on 1000 acres of land.
Later we went on to grow the Bhivpuri Chilli. Bhivpuri Chilli is well known in the dry farming sectors like the Umred Kuhi Taluka. I was not aware of this type of farming being famous worldwide.
In 2014, under the guidance of Dr. Nalini Bhoir, Project Coordinator, ATMA; I sent the Geographical Indication (G.I) proposal to the Central Government. In 2016, the farmers from Bhivapur were awarded with GI for their efforts and genuine work for their successful production of the Bhivpuri Chilli. This helped in the demand for the chilli all over India.
I sincerely thank Mr. Hingmire for helping me and my fellow farmers for getting us the GI accreditation for the Bhivpuri Chilli.
