Mr. Rashid (Vishal) Mohan Gavit

I come from a poor Adivasi Family. My father admitted me to a Zilla Parishad School and my educational journey started there on. My parents used to do traditional Farming and due to their hard work and immense support, I could study till Graduation. I chose Farming as my career with the aim of using materials with Advanced technology that would be beneficial for farming.

The techniques by Department of Agriculture,Maharashtra; Dr. Sawant & Dr. Vasardar inspired me and I started implementing these techniques. Under the guidance of a lot many people and with the initiatives of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nandurbar; Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri; Panchayat Krishi Vibhag Navapur, helped me developing my farming techniques. With the help of advanced technology, the production of Grains, Sugarcane, Groundnuts, Cotton etc. proved to be beneficial.

At the initial stage, Farmer Exhibitions, Conversations with Farmers & Workshops helped me in building my farming knowledge.

I started guiding the farmers in my village to use the advanced materials and thus, it started helping them in the production of Groundnuts, Onion, Potatoes, soybean and lot more fruits & vegetables.

In 1997, The Baliraja Krishak Mahamandal was formed by 50 farmers out of which 20 farmers would contribute Rs.100 each every month which would be used for collaborative farming. This farms were later named as Baliraja Farms.

Rashid Gavit plays an important in the Scientific Analysis of Navapur Tur Dal under the Government of India initiative. Similarly, he is taking efforts to teach the farmers the modern farming techniques. Rashid proves to be an inspiration to the farmers. Rashid is a persuasive personality in this field.
